Magical Moments of Discovery...

Welcome to Edgewood House School!

Our homes are a place of comfort, fun and learning for any and all children that venture into our lives.  At Edgewood House School we strive to provide children the magical learning experiences that only a small home-based preschool can offer; very low teacher to child ratios (1:4) , small group size, close knit staff and extended family, home cooked meals and snacks, a large vegetable garden and play yard, a shady nature trail with bird feeding, large additional yard space for sports and games; all nestled in a neighborhood setting.  Our environment is complete with learning areas found in most play based programs with a special emphasis on emergent and eco-friendly curriculum.  The learning and exploration which takes place within our school is designed with each child's unique readiness in mind; challenging children with new ideas and experiences at the first signs of readiness for the next level of learning. We offer an extended preschool morning program (8:30-3), full day preschool (8:30-6) and school age (K-2nd) programming (3-6 with some transportation included).

We passionately believe in authentic relationships with the children and families in our care.   EHS is eclectic in the use of theory; there is no one size fits all solution. In general, we use current brain development research for early childhood, while gleaning theory and philosophy from Erikson, Bowlby, Piaget and progressive constructivist educational approaches. What matters most is each individual child's readiness  and excitement to learn.   EHS works with children from a whole-child perspective, every level and domain of development is important for school readiness and each child unfolds on their own time line.  We also welcome the entire family into our homes, building connections between all our families so everyone feels ownership in our learning community.  Frequent parent socials, education nights, parent teacher conferences and community events keep us all connected to our school.

We are excited at the prospect of sharing our early childhood program with you!
